Midi Data

Ok,OK I know I should already know how to do this by now,but I don't use the mpc this way often,now with that said how the hell do you get mid-data into the mpc?

Well I take it you mean from an external keyboard / hardware... If so, you can use a midi cable or USB midi if your external gear supports that. Select the track you want to record on and choose track type midi and select the appropriate channel as required (if triggering sounds on external gear). With version 1.8.2 there is a new midi activity / status display section on the right top section of the MPC display and in the software too.

I know that I actually have that already set up but say like if you or a friend played like a piano line or something and all you want are the midi notes without having to play it over again how do you transfer or import the midi file to a track on the mpc-software???(advantages to this are being able to experiment with different sounds and plug-ins without changing the performance of whatever was originally played).

If it is a midi track that you played out then just change the instruments, plugins, patches etc. If it is a midi file you want to open then just browse to the midi file using the browser and open it up and audition desired sounds.
