Hey Richie,

I am the guy who runs the instagram. Yes, I have cleaned boards in the bath but I can assure you it was not with bath water from the faucet or soap. In fact, I live on well and septic . The water is extremely hard even after going thru a softener. We don't drink the water let alone wash electronic components with it. I washed the boards in the bath because it is a convenient way to pour distilled water and or IPA from a cup or the gallon. The two machines that were shown in the bath were heavily soiled. A sticky liquid like soda pop had been poured in both machines. I was just trying to show how nasty machines can be when you buy on ebay or from whomever.

But since that has become a topic of concern, all pcb's are now cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner with specially formulated electronic cleaner.

Either way, this is about marunio and the excellent work he has done. I think its something to be excited about. No not everyone is going to invest in a new screen, but there are some who will. That's why we posted the pics. We want to see what kind of demand still exists

I appreciate the time you took to clarify yourself to anyone else that may be interested. While you're at it, you may want to clarify this on facebook to a certain someone from the UK repair/refurbisher who was talking sh-t about what you do and all the followers you have.

I did not mean to detract the thread from the announcement either way.

We have been holding off for a while to show off our new finished 2000/2000XL screens. We didn't want to get people too crazy before full production was done. This screen is an exact fit, custom built screen. We have started from the ground up, and have done a completely new MPCStuff design. The process of debugging was really tough, but we are finally through it. We have spent a lot of time and money to develop these screens for the MPC community. I am unsure we can sell enough of them to make our money or time back in what we have spent in development, but if we keep these units alive, we think it will pay off in the long run and keep these units rolling forever.

We know the main question is when will they be available for sale. We will know soon when the manufacturing will be completely finished, and will begin to take preorders at that time.

Price is another question. Our previous screens we sold were $165.00, and the new ones will be no more than that. We are actually hoping the screens will run a good amount less than that. At this time, we just don't know because we have to factor in all our costs. That being said, our focus is to get pricing and production completed as quickly as we can. I will update when we know.

We have tried everything, its working properly. I know what you are getting at though, there are many different things that cause the display to go haywire without proper programing and drivers. The SOLO button programming took a long time. The displays run smooth!

I think plenty of people will be interested in these, there are lots of MPC2000s out there, Z4s, Z8s and i think Yamaha synths use the same type of Epson display on their RS7000s, ex5, ex5r. We have to be talking 000s, the fact that faulty mpc 2000 LCDs go for £40-50 on eBay suggests there is appetite.

2000, 2000xl, dps12... those are the only 3 things that i know of that use that display.... the screen itself never seemed to be the huge problem with sourcing a replacement.... it is the custom unorthodox controller which seemed to be a proprietary design..... it doesn't seem to make much sense why akai went that way. Essentially the only option was to build a new screen design from the ground up..... which takes a boat load of patience and determination. So far nobody has been successful so the news of these screens being a V2.0 and they apparently work.... well that is an achievement... nobody thought anyone would have wasted their time to get this right.

I'll cop two for each 2000XL I have. I only have one with a busted display but I horde spare parts often enough.
