My work flow is constantly thwarted via poor software execution. Crashes, Freezes, other anomalies that I can't explain and the Akai tecks can't explain.

Losing out on money daily, the most unreliable software ever created. Someone needs to be fired.

Roger linn is ashamed right now.

Why would Roger Linn be ashamed? More people are trying to cop 60's and 3000's now than they have in many years. Plus he's not a fan of Akai because they cut off his royalties.

I get your point though.

This is why I love my MPC2000. It works the same way every time. As much as the Ren has evolved over the years, I wouldn't wanna deal with the bugs.

I was very excited about 1.8.2 but boy this thing is crashing more than ever. I was LITERALLY finished a beat was about to do some automation before I exported. I pulled up FilterCrusher (REN and FC don't seem to get along lately) ,was about to record and noticed the VSTi I had Filtercrusher on, sounded different. So I closed the session restarted it. I even uninstalled both plugins and the session loaded up, but it wont load if I install the VSTi back in. I've been trying to get the session to work for the last 2 1/2 hours and it keeps crashing...

I have to honestly admit that the original poster said ALOT of things that I'm currently experiencing. This stuff does get in the way of making $$$ when u gotta deal with weird crashes and spending more time figuring out work arounds. 1.6 was the most stable update Akai had but the new features on the newer updates are essential BUT not worth all this. The features get better but the stability gets worse.. I don't know what else to say Akai smh...

my MPC software rarely crashes

stories like this are generally related to computer issues, using pirated plugins, etc etc

you have to remember there are a LOT of people using these... professional musicians and hobbyist. if everyone experienced these same problems no one would use the MPC. this should lead you to believe that there may be something on your end that you could fix to help smooth out the situation.

im not putting it all on you or blaming you - but you im also saying there's no way its completely because of the mpc software because if it was everyone would be experiencing the same thing.

what plugins are you using? purchased or pirated? AU or VST? mac or pc? was OS, what ram, etc etc etc... so many variables here

How stable is the Ren if you don't use many plugins with it?

Since 1.8.2 my software has been shit too. CPU spikes like crazy. It does not want to use vst instruments at all. Some days it's fine. Some days it's not. Sometimes I get these CPU spikes with just samples.

2012 MacBook Pro w/ 16gb ram. 8 core.

I have a cpl hacked vst's but my $900 dollar komplete also causes the static.
I do understand it's something in my box conflicting cause it was a beast with 1.8.

I feel OP first post, but he does need to realize he is stuck in his own mouse trap. Not akai's.
I know I must completely wipe my comp and replace everything. It's been 2.5 years. The girl needs a fresh install.

Hmm... the only cpu spikes I get happen if I have set up a complex virtual out midi routing with all channels occupied. but in this case it's not possible to work with the MPC (no 1.8.2 issue but a general one); that's why I moved back to first create the sample based beat in standalone mode and than exporting wavs for my daw. without issues to date.

Very interesting topic I must say lol. I've been creating music since I was 8. I just turned 40. I'm also a retired IT Tech. So I might enlighten a couple of people. Since 1.8.2 my Ren hasn't crashed but I did by staying up all night getting it in lol. I had problems with 1.7 with certain vst's. I'm using the same plugings on 1.8.2 with no problems. I also can tell you that no matter what type of computer that we all use if we don't do maintenance on it, it's going to crash. Don't your car break down when maintenance is not performed? I keep my PC tuned up and I have no problems what so ever.
