What software do you use with your old Akai sampler

if you do happen to spontaneously find a copy, try it with standard sds via midi, or maybe as an S1000. wavelab 5 dosent have a specific configuration for the s20.

you need to get the s20 ready to receive sds by pressing rec then choosing a bank,

I've been looking for a program that can write to to a Akai S3000 floppy disk on my XP system, but so far haven't found any that work.
I've tried these
Akai Disk
OmniFlop
EmXp
None can recognize or format a S3000 disk for me.

To get sounds from my computer to Mpc2000 I've been using Cool Edit Pro to edit, chop and add effects to sounds.
It can also change sounds to 16 bit and to a format the Mpc can recognize.
Then I save them to a USB stick, load them via a USB floppy drive emulator I have installed on my Mpc and save them to it's external hard drive.

All that just to transfer 1.44 Mb of sound

I think it makes you a bit more considerate about what sounds you use and appreciate them more .

the programs you tried should all work, you aren't trying to use a usb floppy drive are you?
you need a real floppy drive usb drives only work with normal pc disks

i've managed to use akaidisk on win 98 to write s1000 floppies.
the s3000 will read s1000 floppies too, you could try that.

i used floppies a few times but really i prefer using wavelab or recycle via midi, its slow as hell, but i can always go and make myself a cup of tea while i wait.

Yeah it is a usb floppy drive.
Thanks man I didn't know that usb ones don't work.
I've got a old floppy drive from my mpc, so I'll stick that in the P.C.
That will be good for backing up floppy disks and transferring stuff.

yea I dont think I'd buy from chickensys again..few things to consider they are only a handful deep...they do specialize in software that you cant buy elsewhere.

with the mv kit creator pro I felt as soon as they had everybody's money they moved onto another project to cash in again and put the other one on the back burner...

It's taken them 3-4 yrs to ship out hard copy of it, there was incentive to buy the pro version initially as early bird special, by the time it was all said and done it made no difference

it's 50/50 thing with them, there was endless runarounds with dates getting pushed back constantly

that's the chance you take when you buy commercial software. support is really at the whim of the developer.
more than half of the posts i've seen about chickensys are negative. they have taken on a hellishly complex project though, they must have spent a fortune on buying gear to make it work. it must be a nightmare to develop. so i can respect the work they have done, but i'm not rushing out to buy it.

I'm using the Chicken Sys Akai version to load samples onto the CF card that my s3200XL reads.
It's a bit whimsical and took a bit getting used to but it does work.

it totally works so far, i have sucessfully created an s3000 formatted zip drive, converted a load of wavs into akai samples.

if anybody here uses linux its a great (free) alternative to chickensys translator.

its a bunch of command line tools so you do need to read the man page, but it seems to be working great.

i haven't tried it myself but it should work on OSX too.(since its actualy a real unix under the eyecandy gui)
