haven't had a crash for a while now, I did have some issues couple updates ago when copying sequences with NI Komplete plugins in them.

I'm running on 2007 Mac Pro with OSX 10.7.2 and it's been pretty solid, aside from Ren losing connection from time to time..but I've narrowed this down to USB ports on my mac

My main concern is now hacking this mac to further OS support, :fku: Apple

I would Say that the Ren is one the most solid program that I own. I didn't get the Ren until November 2014 so I'm not sure of the version that I started with but it never crashes. There has been times when I tried to crash it because I couldn't believe it hadn't already. I'm on a quad pc that is at least 5 years old. Now I just need Akai to allow the Ren to send midi to your daw.

Under preferences in the Auto Load/Save tab. You can also adjust the interval. I'm not a big fan of the feature though, as sometimes your project may be saved in a state you don't want it to be saved. At least that's what happened to me once or twice and now I am back to saving my projects (very) regularly.
Funny thing is that there are days I experience quite a few crashes (although rarely the case) and other days I can work for hours without one single crash.

I want to chop up a sample on the Ren and sequence it in my daw like you could do with A Kontakt type sampler vst.

Wouldn't doing that in Kontakt take less memory then trying to load the Akai software in your daw?

Yeah I know the way they set up chopping in the new software is dope but it isn't worth it if your shit keeps crashing.

Not sure if you meant to quote me or not but chopping in Kontakt is the worst ever. It's mainly due to the small wave editor. I can chop in mpc or essentials but I can't sequence the chops. I know that I can sequence inside of the mpc plugin but it would be SO much easier if the Ren could send midi to my daw.

What exactly are you trying to do, i.e. what are you looking for the Ren to control in your DAW?

The Ren just doesn't sit well with 3rd party plugins unfortunately. I figure if you use just the basics then I guess it will work solid

Personally I would use the MPC as the sequencer for your chops and just sync your MPC to your DAW - in the end the chop/sequencing combo is one of the biggest strengths of the MPC, so not sure offloading the sequencing makes sense in that situation.

not entirely true. maybe for certain people but once again you gotta attribute some of this to the computer, the plugins, the person.. etc.. if 3rd party stuff just didnt work in the mpc it would be a piece of trash - this is NOT the case. i use everything EXCEPT akai plugins (ahaha) and crashes are very infrequent these days

my Ren very rarely crashes.....i'd say it crashes about the same amount as my 2000xl....and the Ren is so much more powerful....

I cant complain about the Ren at all.....but I did buy a brand new laptop to work with it......
