HDE PATA to SATA adapter with Master Slave Jumper
StarTech BRACKET25 HD Bay Adapter
I originally purchased StarTech PATA2SATA3 SATA IDE adapter and this did not work despite having a master slave setting. I then purchased the HDE PATA to SATA adapter with a master slave jumper (master as delivered) from Ebay (You need the one with Master Slave jumper) and used this with 128GB SanDisk X210 2.5in SATA3 mounted on StarTech BRACKET25 HD Bay Adapter. This works flawlessly. I chose the 128GB SanDisk X210 2.5in SATA3 from SCAN as it was heavily reduced in price and reports indicate they work particularly well on Operating Systems that lack active garbage collection.
Was also going to replace the high quality Sanyo Denki MOTOR FAN 109R0612F402 with a lower noise Noctua NF-A6X25 FLX 60mm FAN until I bo?!@#ksed the header lead so that will have to wait until I have purchased a new pin and crimped that in place!
I still have noise / clicking through the headphone output and the USB A socket has died (probably due to me trying to use a 128GB USB3 thumb drive) so my next maintenance task will be to poke around the headphone / USB A PCB with a FLUKE 123 Scopemeter and try to work out where the noise (grounding issue or zapped components most likely) is coming from and then replace the faulty components inc the USB A socket.
