Hey everyone,
Thanks for keeping this site and the MPC community alive. I've learned a ton here over the last two years.
My problem has to do with using the MPC 1000 to trigger / sequence Logic's sounds (ie. Logic as sound module). I bought the book on the topic earlier in the year and I got it set up just fine and was able to play Logic instruments with the pads, sequence them, etc. So I know it works.
I brought out my gear again a few weeks ago after months of inactivity and I can't make it happen for some reason. I follow all of the steps in the book and the closest I can get is to input notes from my MIDI keyboard into the MPC, which I can of course hear as I'm playing and see in Step Edit, but there's just no sound coming from Logic when I play back the sequences in the MPC. Also, I can't use the MPC pads to trigger the Logic sounds. Only my MIDI controller can do this now. All Logic tracks are armed, set to ascending MIDI channels, "auto demix" is checked, etc. I'm pretty sure it's not a MIDI cord issue. I'm also pretty sure it's not an MPC problem because I can sequence my external synths no problem.
Also, I can switch between Logic instruments from my MIDI keyboard no problem (ie. by switching channels on the MIDI controller).
I'm using JJOS1 4.99L. It's possible I changed something accidentally within the MPC or within Logic since the last time I had it set up. One thing I've definitely done in the meantime is set up my MPC in my Mac's Audio / MIDI set up (as described in the last chapter of your book). Could a screw up on that part be responsible for Logic not receiving MIDI data from the MPC?
If you have any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance! It's especially frustrating because I know it can work and how cool it can be when it works. Thanks a lot.
