Indefinitely Looping a Sample Without Holding Down the Pad

I assign a sample to a pad and I basically want to hit the pad one time and it continuously loop until I hit the pad again. Is this at all possible? I know this can be done on the MV-8000...

I think this is also called "Loop & Hold" on other MPC's, but I just can't find it in the Renaissance/Studio

It's not in, been begging for it since 1.5. It's painful looping a sample without it, especially after coming from Jjos.

It's called one shot in play loop mode, they beta testers have asked for it also.

OMG, I wanna rip my hair out! Can we petition for it somewhere? It just completely messes up my flow!

Pete already knows, the beta testers have also requested it multiple times.

Ruins my whole chopping process also. I went back to my hardware mpc until they implement it. Even Machine has this looping option by default.

There are about 3 alternatives that I know of: Maschine, MPC-1000/2500 JJOS, and the mighty-but-crappily-built MV-8000
I can only pray they add this feature in an update...

I don't get it either. That feature might be handy, but not necessary in my opinion.

You can trim and edit slices, samples start and end points, without holding down a pad. The sample keeps looping in real time in relation to the start and end markers.

Maschine, MPC 1000 2500 Jjos does this natively, why not the Ren. Every daw since the late 90's through today does it. Even Media Recorder from windows 95 did it.

I understand they were emulating the 3000/2000 work flow. Akai even gave us note on and one shot options. It can't be that hard to add play loop to it.

Just because you guys have no use for it doesn't mean it's not crucial for others.

If you're doing this in a sequence just set the step length on the event you want to loop to (total # of bars * 384)

What about using the looper in the ren?

On the Looper, I was really hoping you could assign a loop to a pad in real-time without having to stop the sequence and be able to assign multiple loops to multiple pads this way. This is the best example of what I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FI6vgewV7U
He's using a Mopho, Novation Launchpad and Ableton Live Looping with nothing prerecorded. This would awesome if the MPC Software could do something similar for live jams.... Is this possible? I love the live seamless build up of the song and the ability to add or drop different loops on the fly...

Ok. Yea. I see what you are saying. I'm not all too familiar with live performing with my ren as I just put all my beats on cd and bring them to shows. I usually have to perform the lyrics so I can't really do both. I couldn't even think of a workaround as this is not something I routinely do. Sorry I couldnt help.
