Maschine first version allowed this, send midi to notes, many moons ago. Apparently 2.0 had an issue,
they quickly corrected it. Despite them, Akai should know better, they are making the Mpc look juvenile.

Yes Dans showing what I thought would happen, completely leaving data mode, to turn a few knobs. So it won't work, as I'm actually trying to trigger the data on the Mpc, not data from my daw.. uggghh wtf

Yes u could always drag midi , or you could use controller mode ,now you can record midi straight into daw as you play without going into controller mode, pretty much what we want from the Mpc

The reason why I keep my maschine controller is because I do not have to start Maschine software to trigger another vsts in my daw. I have only to press to shift and control on the maschine controller and I can use it as a general midi controller...with Ren I need to start the MPC Software what is really sad...It would be nice to use the REN as a stand alone midi controller without to start the MPC software... it would be really dope if Akai could give us this feature....I have the maschine MK1 hardware version and in this regard...NI did it better

Agreed

I was asking for this feature a while back a firmware update that would give us a simple switch/double tap or shift and f-button like maschine into controller mode would be great this doesn't even have to be a full update just controller update I think its time now Akai...Pleases

Or they could just add the function every other MPC every had, and thats MIDI OUT!!!

Does AKAI think that, now there's a software MPC, midi is no longer important? This is ridiculous on their behalf. Hopefully they'll add this.ASAP it's been years since the ren was released..

You can do MIDI out...I believe you misunderstand.

I was able to get the Ren software to send midi data to my daw but only when I used my midi keyboard controller (usb) connected to the Ren hardware. When I played it back my daw would play the Ren as it should. The problem is that the notes on my keyboard don't match the pads on the Ren for some reason. Maybe there is a way to assign the pads to match up with keys.

Is this a Ren only issue? I have a studio and was thinking about a Ren upgrade soon. I can't see why connecting midi cables from the MPC i/o ports to the PC via interface midi i/o ports and then set appropriate midi i/o channels in the DAW...

Would this not work?

Well... this was a interesting read!!....

@bobbyland, there is actually a way to do this.. I do this from time to time when I want to use my my keyboard instead of the pads to trigger the sounds but still record within my DAW (Cubase)

I will load up Cubase tonight and put together a quick guide... not sure what DAW you use, but I am sure most of them let you map various midi inputs to where ever you want.

Yes , u could use your keyboard , which u could do at release of the studio , prob the ren too but I didn't have that at release ,any how it's not the same is it , and pretty much defeats the point of having it .
U could also in cubase , record midi in the mpc plugin then set it to output midi to cubase , set cubase to receive the midi , but u can't set it to send the midi back , then play the midi u recorded as it rec the midi into cubase , u can't hear nothing , but it will rec the midi , then switch the cubase track midi ports so it sends to the mpc but switch off it receiving midi from the mpc . Not the best workflow tho

My point is you cannot tap pads on the MPC with the program data on it, to be entered into a daw str8 away via Midi out, meaning the Mpc REN has no Midi out when using the Ren software. This is what I want to achieve. Midi out while using the Ren software..
Pretty simple and straight forward, apparently it's still not implemented after all this time, shame on Akai.. Akai Pro this is just terrible..This is not the same Akai who made the Mpc the legend..
