MPC 3000 ram slot replacement

Hey,

as you may know from one of my other threads, my MPC 3000 ram slot does not always make contact to the memory. So if I hit the mpc hard, it could be that it does not recognize the ram anymore and then it corrupts the sounds...
So does anybody know where I could get a replacement for the ram slot? From Digikey or Mouser maybe?

And if not, do you think I could just solder the ram onto the slot? I know it's not the best solution but I think it's the only I have if I can't get a replacement.

Soldering the RAM? Oh I wouldn't do that, that can't be good... Do you have a techie guy that can take a look at your problem?

Try a couple little blobs of hot glue in around the ram once it's installed in the slot. Should hold it steady and you can still heat them with a heat gun to get it out later if you need.

Why exactly do you think soldering isn't a good idea?

I never worked with a heat gun. Is it easy to remove the glue?

No one knows a replacement part for this? Does it even exist or was it only made for the 3000?

I had this problem and just placed tiny strips of paper between ram and the clips and it made them have contact.

Actually, I had to do the same with a friends 3000 just today. It worked again.

Hmm, after looking at my ram slot I don't know if I understand what you mean. Could you maybe explain to me where you put the paper strips? Not between the contacts right?
I noticed another difference between my MPC 3000 and the regular ones my black ram slot seems to be of far worse quality than the regular white ones. The white ones have some sort of metal clip to hold the ram in position. And its backwards.

I'm not sure what to do if you don't have those metal clips. I was putting the paper strips behind the clips to apply pressure to the RAM. This was making sure there was contact between the RAM and the pins. You'll have to try something similar that achieves the same results, but I'm not sure what without those metal clips.
