sampleing ??

Ive made my song with a good piano loop and put in my drums. Ive sampled a small vocal part and tunned it best i can but it still souds sh** wen i play it ova the song. How does kanye do it?? i no every1 says get ur own style but i really want 2 learn this technique n e help apprciated

Try chopping your vocal sample really hard, cyllabus by cyllabus, note by note. Then I guess you just need to experiment until you find something that fits.

Yeah thats the fing it wernt from da same song it was a piano riff from a sample CD and some abba speeded up lol. would it work if i worked out the main theme on the keys but changed it about then layered the short vocal over it. The song im really finkin about wid kanye is the song the good the bad the ugly and wot stages he went through 2 make dat song???

but really u need a good clear vocal sample and then jsut eq it and pitch it up till it flows with the music uve banged out..

use ableton to pitch shift and stretch it. you can turn a females voice into a males voice, vice versa

Dude the best thing for you to do is figure it out cause asking is only going to confuse the hell outta ya and probably put you 2 steps behind where you were but as far as kanye go i was f-ing around one night listening to records looking for that break or voice or whatever and stumbled on the persuaders and ran up on one of kanyes samples now i wondered how he did it so i chopped it exactly the way it is in the song and it didnt sound like the song at all so what i did was sped it up and filter the hell out of it to the point where the background noise is faint and low and behold i had that same sample almost a perfect match. but like someone said try to use elements of the same kind meaning the same song cause the melody of this particular song is the same as the one he sampled from and just **** wit it till you get it

I'm not gonna attempt to answer the question, but what the FVCK does this say!?!??!

I don't know how Kanye does it.... but i'm going to say something anyway, as this might be usefull for other people too.

If you have a loop or hook in a specific key, and you're vocal doesn't "fit" in this key because you've pitched the sample instead of timestreching it, you need to change the tuning of the vocal.

The best-sounding option in my opinion is not Ableton Live, but Waves SoundShifter. It works in realtime also (if you have a fast computer) and is a breeze to use. It's also very usefull for tuning drums.

(It's a part of the Waves Transform bundle that also includes TransX, my favorite plug-in EVER. )

he uses a vocal sample from the same song. if its from the same track it will be in the same key. if you take it from somewhere else, good luck.
