DB25 to TRS question

I recently got a Mogami DB25 to TRS male cable and it works great. The only issue I notice is I can't undo the insulated jacket to separate the channels for more than one instrument. I noticed that if I tried to take 1 and 2 into one machine and 3 and 4 they are stuck together I have stripped the shielding as much as possible without stripping the wire. Do I just buy another DB25 to TRS cable to do I strip each cable and reshield them myself? I want to be able to record an MPC and a synth at the sametime into my desk.

So you are trying to split the TRS out into dual-TS? Before you hack your cable apart, can't you just get a y-adapter (TRS-Female to Dual TS-Male)??

My setup is DB25 to 8 TRS 1/4". The way Mogami makes these is each of the 8 cables are stuck together with the shielding. I can individually separate each cable for up to 18 inches then they are stuck to each other. Forcing me enough cable distance for only one device with 8 outs. If I try to connect an SP-1200 and analog keys to the mixer the separate mixer in cables cannot reach one instrument. I can't just pull TRS 1 into the SP and 2 and 3 into the elektron. Are there DB25 to TRS cables

Just got off the phone with someone at Mogami and it sounds like I will need a custom cable to do what I want.

Most DSub/DB25 connections have a fan out spec of 18 inches.

fan out is the distance the 8 cables can be separated from each other because of the shielding.

The fan out spec I need to patch between synths and samplers on a 3 tier keyboard rack would probably be 48 inches.

I'm going from different pieces of gear into my SSL xDesk. Am I doing this right?

yeah maybe a patchbay at the end instead.. then run individual cables from that that are long enough to reach each piece of gear.

What's a good patchbay to get? What specs should I be looking for?
