@bobbyland, there is actually a way to do this.. I do this from time to time when I want to use my my keyboard instead of the pads to trigger the sounds but still record within my DAW (Cubase)

I will load up Cubase tonight and put together a quick guide... not sure what DAW you use, but I am sure most of them let you map various midi inputs to where ever you want.

I'm still awaiting to see this in action, as I just don't think it's at all possible, the way I want to use it. Thanks

It works but like I said you have to use a keyboard which sucks. What also sucks is the keyboard notes don't match up to the pads so you it's hard to find a sound you may want to edit. Not sure why a keyboard works but not the pads.

So it DOESN'T WORK! That's my point, it DOESN'T WORK! Thanks

No this is not at all what I'm talking about, my Ren can do whats showed in the video.. that's not the problem.. I'll explain the problem once again, for any who have a hard time understanding this..

I'm suggesting this, load a program on the MPC REN/STUDIO/ELEMENT then enable midi record in DAW, then press a pad.. NOTICE SOMETHING? You get audio ,but no MIDI SIGNAL!!!

Does this make it clear? AKAI have stripped the software from MIDI OUT!! WHY Wtf for? Is this pure f.u. to the consumer? When has Midi out not been possible with an MPC?

NEVER,Until now! I mentioned this the day the Ren came out, and Akai mentioned they would bring this along in an update, well years later, and it still doesn't work??

WHAT does it take to get MIDI OUT AKAI>> Native Instruments MASCHINE DOES IT, SHOULD i BUY MASCHINE? :hmmm: :fku:

Jay Rolex wrote:Completely agree. Its utter nonsense. When used as a plugin within a DAW it should be just that, a plugin. Plugins shouldn't have their own sequencers, its distracting and convolutes workflow.

If AKAI fixed this and added sidechaining the Ren would be amazing.

YES. THIS.

Then you'll complain that the MPC can't control your DAW's sequencer. You're using the damn thing backward.

The Ren doesn't have any audio tracks or any efficient way to export tracks. Maschine has drag and drop midi/audio straight into your Daw! Why doesn't the Ren have that in 2015? All that loop record nonsense is useless when you have a Daw. It really should. Function as a plugin that can be sequenced by your Daw.

I agree, Akai seems they don't think in terms of DAW,but yet standalone when adding features which is sad really. Why on earth would I produce in a standalone environment when my work is done in my DAW.. I never use the ren in standalone. There should be support for DAW users as well..

Huh? What do you mean? The DAW's transport controls would still be controlled by the MPC...

The Mpc Ren's transport controls work fine in daws, thats not the subject or point. Lets keep this about midi out please!! :smoker:

The Ren as a plugin has been non-functional from the start. It's a half-baked implementation since the beginning, and has gotten very little attention since the beginning, save adding virtual midi outs (which is still limited). I still say that true plugin mode would elevate this thing incredibly. But for whatever reason, it doesn't get that attention. I rank this need higher than audio tracks.
