Yamaha ReFace

i saw sonicstate's vids earlier... i like the DX ones but not crazy about the others

I agree, the DX is the best out of all of them. I wasnt impressed by the CS at all. The other two, im not interested in. The price is a bit steep. If they came down to around $399, they'd sell better. I'm better off with my ipad, FM4, and my Novation Launckey 25. The FM4 has more waveforms than the DX, which only has a sine. But I still like the interface on the new DX. It really does look like a lot of fun.

yeah even the oldschool DX* synths had more voices... but I do like the visual display that shows the part you are editing... i wont compare this to VST instruments because we can simply mention FM8, absynth, and most importantly... we can mention the free VST VOPM which is awesome as hell... but for a little keyboard, it's pretty cool... i wont be buying one, but I do want a TX81Z.

pretty cool little keyboards, but yeah, nothing a synth module or vst doesnt do. didnt mind the sounds of the CP and the DX.
the video of the CS sounds like some of the noises the korg monotron makes

I feel tad disappointed in the reface lineup of Yamaha's new synths, but, even still, I want them all except for the organ. I have a DX200, and I'm sure they are both FM synths, but function on different levels. Either one or the other has less operators or waveforms. Yet, I heard some patches that my DX200 can't do, and I imagine some sounds the new DX reface can't either. But both together should be a wicked combo!

The digital piano one sounds nice enough. It would come in handy for any track that needs that old Supertramp electric piano sound. Or some funk.

And I rather liked the CS synth as well, but I'm disappointed they didn't give it any CV functionality, and it would not likely be the first choice of the three. (2nd or 3rd, depending on what other gear I might choose from down the road)

If this gets Yamaha back in the hardware market, then it would only be if these sell well. If nobody cares, and they have a tough time with competing with all the other synths out there, then Yamaha maybe rushed these out too soon, and may or may not stay in the game if they just become the laughing stock compared to Roland Aira gear.

I like the Yamaha Reface DX because;
1. Build-in Fx
2. Better bit and algo, which makes the device more clear
3. The size of the unit (Portable)
4. Feedback on all OP
5. Less complicated editor with 4OP
6. Modern machine and lesser repairs
7. Better midi specs

Seems more attractive with all those points.
