Techno set by Atom TM using a MPC 1000 live

Maybe I should have posted this in the MPC 1000 forum, but I would expect that for this type of sounds his MPC is running JJOS .... (if anybody knows differently, plse let me know).
In any case, once again it shows that MPC 1000s are not "just" for hip hop

I am just wondering about the little MIDI controller on the left of the MPC. It looks like a korg nanokontrol.
Is this controller set to work with the laptops (he said he used ableton) ?
Or does the controller work with the MPC (then for what purpose) ??

considering he's using a real mixer, i would be willing to bet that controller is going straight to the DAW.

He's only sending stereo out, so he could be using it to mix in the mpc..
