Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

HI All,

I own an MPC2000XL and a Roland MC303. I'm having an issue when connecting the two. The MPC is not letting me add in sounds from the MC303 while in MIDI mode. I can track out using the pads in drum mode however when I try to add sound from MC303 it wont track and combine the sounds together.

Is there something in the MPC that I do not have configured correctly?

Im coming MIDI out from the MC303 to MIDI in 2 on the MPC and MIDI out A from the MPC to MIDI in on the MC303.

When I have the MPC connected to the 303 via MIDI I cannot hear sound output from the 303 through the MPC.

thats not how it works. no sound is transmitted over midi, and you never hear any sound 'through the mpc' unless you are sampling.
you can trigger the mc303 with mpc midi, then you would listen to it via the mc303.
if you want to mix the mpc and mc303, you would plug them both into an audio mixer.

Thank you, I've solved that issue. My next issue is that I can't play midi mode & track mode on the MPC at the same time for step by step recording.

this is set per track - at the bottom, change the mode from DRUM# to MIDI.
