The top pic is the second pic I have ever seen of this mythical Windows Embedded MPC. I really like the way this is going but I am curious to what may run on that screen. No way the MPC Software would fit, maybe with an adapted skin for touch screen. Right now I have a feeling that it will retail much higher than a Ren.

Sidebar: What was that picture taken with, a potato?!

A lot of people run MPC software on 10 to 12inch windows 8 tablets. I do, and have no issue with screen size.

If you don't feel like searching for it... scroll ahead to 19:30.

In short... not an official picture... but claims Akai will "introduce this to the world" later this year.

So the next MPC will have Windows under the hood. And it will be locked down. Which means there are certain OS features you can't modify. OS should be more stable and easy to detect bugs since everyone will be running with the same OS specifications. It's an early prototype so I expect more hardware changes when we see the final version. I like where this is going.

Better quality grab I took earlier on my phone.

I've noticed Pete mention several times on different forums that he's spent a lot of time working with Akai on this. I'm interested in the 'mid-range' offering this time around due to space issues here, unless the top spec version is really decent.

I wouldn't expect this range to offer much in the way of plugin compatibility though.

A year from now people who bought this will be asking why their software keeps crashing.

This should be interesting. But like the Ren, I'm sure it's gonna take a few years before it's worth the investment.

Maybe not. The software has been in development for a few years now so we shouldn't experience some of the earlier bugs.

in terms of appearance it still cant touch the mpc studio; but a uhd color screen would be a nice upgrade.
