Converting JJOS to other MPC formats

I have the MPC 2500 with the JJOS. I love it dearly, and it's been broken for quite some time. However, I was wondering if there's anyway to take the files I've been working on, in the 2500, and convert them somehow onto another mpc like the 4000 or the 5000? I know you can do it with the 1000 because JJOS works on that one too, but I have been interested in the other mpc's. If anyone knows of a way I could save the project files or convert them (does this have to do with MIDI data?) and save all the work I did on my 2500 and maybe use another MPC.

I know it's not supposed to be able to be done, but I was wondering if there's anyway to somehow do it through midi data or something.

this measuring says that there are huge differences in timing between different mpcs

i dont really know what that means.

I think trying to 'convert' the programs to the 4000 or 5000 might be more of an issue altogether. Different machines with different operating systems, buttons and stuff.

Which version of jjos are you running? Jjos free and os1 will load fine in the 5000, little bit if tweaking required.

4000 will not read any thing from mpcs newer than it, period (except wav and midi files)

so I could get an mpc 5000 and be able to run everything from JJOS?

i just have the first version of JJOS. on an MPC 2500. What type of tweaking would be necessary?

what about midi data, could i somehow get the midi data from my MPC 2500, and then copy them, take the sound files and put them in the appropriate tracks (on the 4000 or 5000) and then have the 4000 or 5000 play out the soundfiles/waves exactly the way i had it on the 2500? i don't really know anything about midi, but is that the work around?

You can just load your jjos projects directly into the 5000, tweaking needed on LFO, filters and effects as implementation can differ, but that's the same with mpc2500 on akai OS.

In the 4000 you can load standard midi files, but not mpc2500 SEQ files. Mpc2500 Programs will not load so you would have to recreate from scratch.

what's the difference between a sequence file and using midi?

wouldn't it be a matter of just getting the midi data right, and then putting the files in order like i had them on my mpc 2500.

so if i went to the mpc 4000, then i'd just have all the sounds loaded in their proper tracks, and then just have the midi data be the same as far as when everything is played? isn't that how midi works? again i don't really know much about midi. but from my understanding, it pertains to events data.

Yes if you save your sequence as a standard midi file it should load into the 4000. You then need to set up your programs agaib pad by pad in the 4000 and then assign the progs to the correct track.

I do not have access to my mpcs where I am so cannot confirm whether jjos is able to save sequences in standard midi format, it probably can, but certainly not by default so you will need to first re-save all your mpc2500 sequences individually first, as by default all sequences.are just saved as an ALL file, which I don't think is backward compatible with the mpc4000.

Basically if you go from 2500 to 4000 its going to take much more work as only basic midi events can be imported and none of your programs nor program params can be loaded so you will need to sit there with both mpcs manually setting up everything in the 4000 while referring to each pad set up in the 2500 to recreate all the filters, tunings, layers, mixer settings, effects etc. Remember the 4000 has a completely different set of filters, envelopes, LFOs and effects, its a completely different generation of mpc made by a different company with a different OS structure

so all will be well, as long as i can manage to get the programs and tracks right? the sounds will play at exactly the same time and everything, it will just be a
matter of me getting the sounds to be aligned correctly according to how i originally had them in my 2500?

Yes the events will occur at the same time as they were originally programmed in your mpc2500.

but what type of midi data is it? i know its sequencing, but do you know the specific type of way i'm supposed to save it? i don't quite understand that part.

also since i still have my original mpc 2500 couldn't i just line up the tracks/programs on my mpc4000 with the mpc2500 and have the mpc2500 control the sequencer/events of the 4000(with all its proper settings)

am i asking that right?

im just trying to get the mpc4000 to play the event data from my 2500, so the easiest or simplest way to do this is the solution im looking for.
