Wats up MPC Forums,

I have a 2006 Mac Pro Gen 1,1 with 16G RAM and 1TB HD running OSX 10.7.5 (i forget the name) and i have not been able to put the money in to upgrade the graphics card SO i can update the OS. BUT i see on the Akai site that the Ren only requires OSX 10.7 to work...

has anyone experienced any problems running the REN's most recent updates (1.8.2) on a older OSX like 10.7 or 10.7.5? I want to know before i purchase the REN tomorrow or should i go ahead and update the graphics card and OS before i have a REN i cant even use properly? Thoughts? Help!

Also, if anyone knows any guides or has any advise on updating a older Mac Pro to support a newer OS would be greatly appreciated as well! Thx.

Well, there's 'issues' in all versions of Mac OS and Windows, i.e. outstanding bugs at the heart of the mpc software that are present no matter what system you run, but 10.7.5 doesn't have any unique bugs all of its own (to my knowledge). So whether you run 10.7, 10.8 or 10.9 you should get the same experience. 10.10 isn't officially supported. You can download all versions from Akai, but I wouldn't bother with anything other than the latest version (1.8.2) unless you have a very good reason to (and running 10.7.5 isn't one of them).
