looking for a convenient way of sampling downloaded stuff

So how would I go about sampling stuff from computer into mpc200xl using one of the drives? or Maybe cd rom via scsi?

The way I do it is have my 2nd outputs from my external soundcard plugged directly in to my MPC, so I can record anything that my computer plays.
Obviously the primary outputs are my monitors.
Simple dude, but you'd need a card that can do this.
If you don't, you could get cable splitters but may lower audio quality. Most likely will.

You can sample any audio within your computer using a virtual audio device like Soundflower and any software app capable of recording audio (e.g. Audacity) - this is on a Mac - PC users can chime in with the PC alternative.

Once you have your WAV files, copy them to disk and load into your MPC2000XL. This might help:

Cool thanks. My soundcard is a profire 610. I've tried this way in the past but if I remember right it wasn't loud enough to get a good sample. So I stopped trying I'll try again though. It's probably just something I overlooked.. Thanks!

If the sound is too quiet:
1. peak normalize the sound you want to record with your DAW or audio-editor
2. profire 610 has a mixer software for the in and outputs that you should invastigate more. I've read it has a bit strange routing so take the manual and do some reading.
3. Use the correct cable (no adapter or something like that. ) the 610 has balanced outputs but the MPC has unbalanced inputs so you have to try out if TS or TRS jacks works better (The MPC might don't like TRS jacks and so the signal probably become stange, quiet or so)

Ok wait so it won't work through the balanced if I run out of the profire 610? Is that why when I did it the first time it didn't get loud enough to sample?

don't panic yeptr. Forget point 3 of my post.
Your 610 has balanced outputs and the MPC has balanced inputs so everything is fine. connect the outs of the 610 to the MPC inputs with 2 TRS cables and you should get a perfect signal (of course, if the settings in the mixer are correct).

Well I did it, and it was loud enough. Just plugged 1/4 inch out of out 2 and 3 outputs to inputs of mpc and done.! Don't know why it didn't work some years ago when I did it, but I successfully sampled Last Dragon!!!! Thankssss!!
