Yeah I thought about that too. i got 3 of them. 2 are running, and one needs a few parts. I'm still keeping one and modding it (new display, internal SCSI). The other that I'm getting ready to sell has 2 lines in the screen. I havent decided whether to sell it like that or buy a new display for it. I'm having a tough time trying to determine what an MPC2000 with one of these new displays is gonna sell for. But I'm still buying one display for the unit I'm keeping. What's your prediction for MPC2000 prices when they're being sold with new displays?

I see XLs going for around $300-$400 in beat up condition. Some as cheap as $200 in dumpster quality. But I'm talking about Frankensteining a few units into pristine, crisp-screen, Hot-swappable CF or internal HDD, road -ready units that MAY sell for a premium. I know some older heads that would most definitely looking for good XLs, the young kids are into cheaper options.

You'll turn a good profit with the XL. I dont think I can turn much of a profit with the 2000. I could mod the ome I sell with internal SCSi. But I'd have to throw an MO drive in there. Otherwise a new display and a Raizinmonster is gonna cost over $300. I'm not sure if anyone's gonna want to pay $500 or more for a modded 2000. But it would be one of the dopest 2000s around.

"road ready" rugged 2000xl machines with a new screen.. cf card.. that sounds like a good tool for the road. it has enough ram for a live set and might really be appealing. It sucks that 2000 classics are so expensive to get a reliable storage medium inside it because that would work fine too (just did a live set on a classic 2 weeks ago with 4 or 5 floppy disks needed to load everything up beforehand)

Yeah I'm undecided whether to mod a few 2Ks with internal SCSI for a few bucks. But I know I still gotta get back to modding the one I'm keeping.

@distorted .. get a sd2scsi for $80, they can emulate up to 5 or 7 scsi ids at the same time, cop a 64 gig or 128 gig micro sd card, have mad partitions on your 2000 and call it a day.

Yeah man. I made a small mistake though, it can currently only run "only" 4 scsi ids simultaneously.

So you'd have to cope with only a max of 72 gb of usable space per micro sd card [ as the max format space on the 2000 is 18gb x 4 scsi ids. ]
