What/Where/How do I install a CD card reader into MPC 2000

Just got an MPC 2000, I want to upgrade from a floppy drive to a CF card reader. I've been doing some research and haven't found anything straight forward that addresses all my questions especially for such a common thing it seems.

What type of card reader do I get?
Where do I get it?
How do I install it?
What is a good price to pay?

Welcome to the forums. There's a huge amount of existing information on this forum that should answer everything you need, including a 24 page sticky topic, 'Recommended Card Readers' and a search brought this up: ADDING CF CARD READER IN MPC2000 CLASSIC. A MANUAL VERSION 2

Most if not all of the CF reader installations in the Recommended Card Readers topic refers to the MPC2000XL. But the Raizinmonster should work fine since mpc-stuff sells the Powermonster and Bakmonolith as an external drive kit for the MPC2000. But to install the Raizinmonster, you need an external SCSI case since there's no internal SCSI on the MPC2000. You can modify your MPC2000 for internal SCSI, as shown in JVC's topic which Tutor linked you to. But since then, I simplified the mod to reduce the amount of soldering by half.

This is the drive mpc-stuff sells. That's the Powermonster (2.5" SCSI CF reader) and Bakmonolith (2.5" to 25 pin SCSI adaptor that the drive sits in). It sticks out of the back of the MPC and it's not pretty. But it stays there safely and it works. Have a look at the pics.

You can find them on eBay cheaper as separate items, or you can buy the Raizinmonster for around the same price as both the Powermonster and Bakmonolith. But you'll have to shop around to get an external SCSI case for free. The advantage of buying the Raizinmonster is it's hot-swappable and you can fit it in the floppy drive bay if you do the internal SCSI mod. The Powermonster may be able to hot-swap if you change the disk type in the DISK menu from SCSI to F-ROM (you don't need F-ROM installed for it to work), then swap the disks.
