cant find sample

does anybody know where i can get some good hip-hop/rap samples, but not drums?

What kind of samples do you want?

Horns, violins and sh<i></i>it like that (traditional instruments)

or computer-type synthesized noises?

For the traditional sh<i></i>it, go to Salvation Army (or whatever equivilent you got where you live) and cop some old a<i></i>ss classical vinyl [beethoven, Mozart, that sort of thing] (you can get em for like $0.50 to $1) and then listen to them and you'll find PLENTY of sample opportunities. The best part about most classical music is there's no copyrites, they're part of the public domain.

If you want the newer space-age sounds, go to a used record store and cop some corny-a<i></i>ss 70's and 80's synth hair rock. They got all sorts of weird sh<i></i>it on thier albums, cuz people liked to expirement like a mofo with synths back then. (often to the point of overkill) Hope this helps.

where did dr. dre and all those great producers get their samples?

also....i'm havin trouple with harmonizing. i can get bass samples and i can get melody samples, but i cant eve get any that match when there put together, so it just sounds like garbage. sumbody help me

If you can find original beethoven or old classical music that is whcih I doubt you ll find beacause its older the nI dont what.Most beethoven stuff this days are played by others which you still need to get cleared becuase the recording and performance has copyrights......thought I throw that in........ I have plenty of vinyl that on the back instead of having a copyrite date says "These songs are in the public domain"

Therefore the composition of the songs aren't protected by copyrite laws. And if you're right and the performances are, good luck to those orchestras trying to determine the difference from thier performance and another performance of the same music with the same instruments at the same tempo, especially when you're only using a 3 note sample at a time.

Oh, I see, you mean without doing any work or paying anyone.

if you want samples, then get creative, get off your ass and go dig. there is no substitute for hard work, and you'll find that the best hip-hop producers are the ones who know how to either dig their asses off or are smart buyers and know what they're looking for.

it takes time. buy a variety of records, whether you look for french titles from 1970-1974 or for african records from 1978, you just gotta do the dirty work.
