8-out Board Fried MPC2000

Hey everyone! I've lurked on these forums a little bit but I decided to join because I have the most difficult bugger of a problem. I attempted to install an 8-out board in my MPC2000 and, of course, plugged in the power cable the wrong way. I have already seen Star One's forum regarding the 2kXL fix (big ups, thank you so much), but the 2k schematic is, unfortunately, much different... I have no idea where to start!
All the problems are typical - pads not working, no audio output, sampling input all messed up. I know the fix can be as simple as changing out a resistor, but nothing looks cooked at all... please help!!

Thanks debauch!! So I ran that diagnostic this morning, and it confirmed what I knew to be the problem - pad sensors are not working, and audio output is cooked. Curious side note: my 2k thinks that the 8out board is still connected, even though it is most definitely not. Still not sure how I'd go about beginning that fix, thinking maybe it'd be worth a visit to a shop...

Anybody else having a similar problem?

@jimpink if I were you I would swap the resistor because it is almost certainly fried. Sending false positives to the rest of the system thinking that the 8 outs are still installed.

I would not bother with ordering anything else until you attempt the swap first.

yeah.. i know the motherboards are different on the 2000xl but maybe try and find the resistor star talks about in that thread and see if you can find the same one somewhere on the 2000 board.

@ Richie @ debauch, that's a very good idea - thanks you guys!! I'll take a good look at Star One's post again and try to figure out where the same resistor is on the 2k. I'm guessing it would be labeled in a similar way on the motherboard (e.g. R1 on the 2kXL would correlate to the same R1 on the 2k)?

Took a few pics with my phone of the resistor I believe to be questionable... but, as any good carpenter says, measure twice, cut once. What do you guys think, fried or all good? I know in Star's thread, it says R1 on the motherboard, but this is a similar size to the resistor she mentions (I'm almost certain it's the only one on this board that's this big) and those bands look pretty burned out to me. She says that it should be Yellow, Purple, Gold, Gold - that looks possible with this one, except the two middle bands are black... what do y'all think?

@ Richie, I see you run a 2k classic - do you happen to know if the resistor I'm pointing to in these photos is indeed burned out, should it be Yellow Purple Gold Gold after all?

That resistor looks toasted. But I'll have a look at the spare board I have when I get home, so I can compare it. If you have a multimeter, you can test the resistor in order to verify that it's blown.

Yeah, that resistor needs to be replaced. I just got back home and compared the pics to a perfectly working board that I have sitting here in front of me.

Damn guys, wow!! Thank you all so much, holy crap. This is the most help I've had with this in over a month, I can't even thank you all enough!!

I'm ordering the resistors today, 4.7 ohm puppies. I'll let you guys know what transpires, for sure, both with the 8out board and just the vanilla MPC itself
