Hi there

Im new here, this is my first post

I used to own a 2500 with JJ installed on it and loved it until my sister ruined it. Thats 3 years ago now and i decided to get an MPC again as i missed the whole sampling thing instead of looking at my laptop all day

Unfortunately i found out that there is no JJ OS for the 5000, and some things i just cant figure out how to do. LIke when i load a sample that i want to chop i can get to the "chop-shop" and chop it to 16 pieces, but when i highlight the 'START' and 'END' for each section and want to change the start/end points, they dont seem to actually change the start/end points) What am i doing wrong? The sample is only 15 seconds long as i only needed the first bit. And how do i select a section and discard it (like for an example the first two seconds is just silence) - on the 2500 with JJ OS all this was so easy and quick..

Do any of you think or know if there will be a JJ OS for the 5000?

Also: Exactly what formats can i use with the 5000? And do you know any free MP3 converters for mac?

Help will be much appreciated as i paid quite a lot for this thing and thought i would be rocking like with the 2500, but there has been so much i just couldnt figure out, so its just been collecting dust

Any help will be much appreciated and i thank you in advance :-)

Being honest with you... everything you're asking - you just need to read the manual. Answering your questions would literally be like quoting the manual. Just start with the manual man. Have you read the pages on Chop-Shop?

If you want video lessons, there are some available online as well. Just google search.

Youtube also has tutorials. That's honestly the best way that you're going to get your answers.

No, there will never be a JJOS for the 5000. If you want to learn the MPC5000 check out my MPC5000 tutorial book, Beat Making on the MPC5000. On the product page are some free tutorials taken from the book, including how to chop.
