just fired up mpc 2000 and went to sample some stuff from my macbook which iv done many times over last few months but the sound is very distorted and quiet like its got a loose connection , i tried different cables but still same , I'm gutted that is the whole point of the machine imo , i don't wanna be messing about putting things on zip just to load into mpc , defeats the point i think. anyone on here experienced this ? or know any fixes?

just an idea, are you sending stereo headphone style cables? the mpc expects either mono or balanced(hot cold ground) connection you will be getting a ton of interference/noise if you send it a stereo cable.

I had this same problem a while ago mate, it's actually the RAM getting covered in dust. Pop those suckers out, spray some compressed air in the sockets on the board and on the chips and you should be good :)

That's definitely something else to check on as well if it's not a cable issue. Good thing you pointed that out.

Easy ye I tried tht first as I heard ram if often the problem , turns out it was me being a retard , I had previously been running out of interface into mpc , nit straight from laptop . Just used big hack cable from interface and I'm back in business . Time to get sampling
