Hi All,
I have MPC1000 jjosxl for half year ago, but the sample chopping possibilities still not clear.
Please help me which ways have to do? (i usually working around 120 bpm)

1. Decreasing the main bpm to the original tempo of the used sample. (usually too slow for house rythms)
2. Timestretching before chopping up. (im not sure these gives the best quality)
3. After chopping making endless loops on every chops individually.
4. ??? any more?

I've tried the patched phrase function. Its ok to set the tempo, but i dont find how to chop up the patched phrasED sample.

+ one more question: can i modify the tempo after chopping on each pads individually?
+ one more :) is there any way to keep the tempo, while you make key transposes on the pads?

Hmmm I always thought that JJOSXL does not have patched phrases, but comparison chart says it does. Manual does not mention it either. I mean you did RTFM right???? I believe that JJOSXL can only play patched phrases but can not make them, though I could be wrong. You have to set the tempo of the sample to when making patched phrases so it knows what to stretch it to. Also patched phrases are just ONE sample not lots of chopped samples in a program.

I think JJOSXL can play patched phrases but wont make them. One main difference between say normal chopping and patched phrases is that it is better to chop patched phrases by transients and not in equal parts. This is important for patched phrases. But probably totally irrelevant as JJOSXL wont make them, just play them.

So what you need to do is learn to chop and also learn to sequence your chops. Time stretching can be done via pitch in program window, or offline in the trim window. you need to RTFM. this goes for the transpose to.

If you want to emulate the patched phrase all you have to do is make a pattern and assign it to a pad, same thing kinda. Problem is you will have to stitch it back together and if you chopped by transients then its harder but not impossible
