Ren's got the same but isn't standalone.

You IS RIGHT!!! I have a Studio so I forgot. I just don't see the benefit if it is another controller. In 2015, it damn well better be standalone.

The touch screen concerns me too... it does look like iMPC Pro. No way the full MPC software is going on that.

its gonna be a controller for the desktop mpc software. the screens will show pieces of whats going on in the software. probably nothing to do with impc pro. will not be standalone.
its another maschine 'me-too' product. nice to have options.

I've been leaning toward that conclusion as well. The more "modern" these MPCs get, the more I appreciate having an old standalone unit.

Akai is always really feeling themselves with their knob functions (look at how impossible the Studio was to control at first, when they used to make you depend on those knobs on the left for all movements in program mode), but it's always easier to do the detailed work/micro moving with cursor buttons. Especially in piano rolls.

maybe for touch screen

Who needs a cursor when you have a touch screen?

Would it be capacitative multitouch screen or a simple touch screen? That seems crucial to me with this incorporation.
And they could just make an ipad/android tablet app that combines with the software and give the same functionality to actual ren/studio users
