Bingo!

The layout favours right handed users for this very reason. Your least dexterous hand is fine for triggering pads while editing, but the main interface requires your favoured hand on the screen. If you're ambidextrous you're laughing!

that's definitely one way to look at it, but I play the kick and snare with my right hand and the hats and percussion with my left, as well as tweak fx, qlinks, etc...., it's not a deal breaker by any means but even on the 3000 the qlinks are on the left for a reason...all just preference in the end though.

no q-link......

what you refer to

we use to hold the pad down RIGHT HAND
we used to pull the slider for tuning LEFT HAND

so i get it BUT:

Always on point Tutor. and Yeah I share the same sentiment on the videos and thought the same thing about his comments on the screen. Then there were chics dancing and crap... rap video for the MPC mindless. no damn info in their promos.

stale bread wrote:I don't understand something, why would they release the touch with the pads on the left side and the screen on the right effectively a left handed version of the mpc-touch, most people are right handed and I've already heard this is the number one reason many users will hold off from this even though they are very interested.
the workflow is king when it comes to these kinds of instruments I just don't understand why you'd wanna shoot yourself in the foot out the gate like this. I certainly want one but can already forsee the issue of me crossing my arms allot, because I'd like to be hitting the pads with my right hand while twisting knobs and controlling other things with my left hand. Has Pete Goodlife said anything about the reasoning behind this decision? There's nothing like having a great product on deck like this and then throwing a wrench in it :(

I'm left handed and I'd hate to use the touch screen with my right hand.

Spin it 180 and hound Akai like your life depends on it for a 'screen flip' mode! I'm sure they'll do it.

Yeah that was really bothering me, especially at the price point it's set for. I only see wobbly crap from cheap items like the Korg Volcas and the Novation Launchkey 25 which are all in the $125 - $160 range. It's all cheap plastic. The guy in the video aint even banging the pads that hard. If someone who's heavy-handed makes beats with it, I'm sure they'll return it to the store right away. You make a good point about the other videos too. What a waste of advertising money, espcially for a company that's too cheap to use quality components. It's gotta be the most ass-backwards shit I ever seen. That plastic piece included with the Touch probably sounds really noisey underneath the unit while banging away at the pads, and if there's no rubber underneath, the unit is gonna slide all over the place. Fisher Price makes sturdier toys than that.

A lot of the screen functionality replaces mouse clicks which is normally used on the right side with your right hand. So I see why it's there now. Would have to demo it some but I do like how quick you can get to the pad mixer to edit volume and pan.
