MPC Touch Preview: The Best MPC Software controller?

Akai MPC Touch Preview: My initial thoughts on the new Akai MPC Touch and how i compares to the existing MPC Software controllers.

No, I have to buy my MPCs like everyone else so I'll grab one as soon as they are available.

So yes, it's more of a preview based on what info we have now, obviously a bit shameless in the title so I can get some search engine traffic, but I'll update this when more info is available and will also do a full review once it's available to purchase.

pads on the left is perfect, as it makes da shit closer to the classic mpc 60 and 3000

^but on the 60, there is like 4 inches of room to the left of the pads.. it wasn't crammed right on the edge..

I never get sent review units from Akai.

i think the issue is the software, the controllers are all fine, it's what they are controlling that is the problem.
the touch screen brings potential for faster work follow but it's restrictions are mostly software based.
the upside to having this released is some extra commitment to software development, but the kind that involves listening to the existing user base.
their faux unboxing video. people are tried of the b.s.

Back on topic about the Touch itself, I think it looks quite nice, and whilst the workflow may be better I don't see any justification for the high price that would make me ditch my Studio just yet. If it could be operated completely in standalone then that would be different.

It's nice having a touchscreen, but with the MPC software you already have a screen in your monitor (albeit not touch). What I would have preferred to see is an MPC that can sync up with an iPad for editing controls, much in the same way that you can use an iPad in Logic Pro X as an auxiliary controller. If you had that, then you'd have the best of all worlds - an MPC that continues using the desktop software, but an option to use an iPad as the controller screen, which could of course, be tilted to your hearts desire.

yeah, but what would they sell the ipad app for? free? a dollar? when instead they can sell you a usb controller for the price of an ipad... that is exactly how that went down in jack o'donnel's last shareholder's meeting.

I'll pay up to 50$ for such an app
