new misconstructed touch display is fatal exception error

a “renaissance touch” flagship mpc wouldn´t make any sense at all. look at the pic.


the viewing distance, meaning the space between the operator's eyes and the damned touch display, is way too long! we would lose our arms. it´s sheer impossible to work like that. how near from the mpc screen is it recommended to sit? akai, stop this nonsense! no touch display inside the flagship mpc, please!

If serious, I see no issue with ergonomics. I think the layout in the pic would be perfect. I believe though, that the screen will be closer to the size of the Touch.

They'd be better off with an 8 X 2 pad arrangement, but that's fighting talk around here.

.......which most likely would redesign the entire unit because of real estate and functionality. I think the design of the REN is now a thing of the past if your talking touch in the sense of the newest product. The bigger the screen the less it maintains its REN appeal. At this point a re-designed REN (Not called a REN) would of course have similarities to the TOUCH just with more knobs(16) and maybe some extra buttons in a similar layout but not, if I'm making any sense.

I think that would be real dope. I would buy it. I personally would welcome it so it would match my other Akai gear, you know, streamlined and black and last but not least hoping it has the same features as all the MPC's that ever came before it.

it´s not so much about viewing, although the letters are way too small to read. it´s about always having to extend your arm in order to reach the display and touch it. the ergonomics will cause spasms in your biceps within five minutes.

microsoft-pete confirmed that the new flagship mpc will have a touch display. he wrote that he was able to “do all the sample loading just using the touch screen and a thumb drive”.

akai needs to change the layout. they should hire the former open labs engineer.

Problem is that it's running a desktop application on a touchscreen, you'd need needle fingers to use it and binoculars to read it. I would hope that if Akai were to bring out a standalone with a touch screen, there would be a touch-friendly UI on the hardware screen (like they have with the MPC touch), and not just the desktop app squeezed into the smaller screen.

the screen is over to the side so instead of glancing up (or down) from the pds and screen you are working sideways. I did not even consider the angle of view either, which may be another issue as well.

I have an iPad Mini which is around the same size as the Touch screen. Some of the apps are a real pain to work with. So it's really gonna be problematic with the new MPC. I don't know who designs these units. But between this one and the other unit, it's like they never gave any thought about the ergonomics. Along with people who suffer carpal tunnel syndrome from using computer mice, I'm sure a lot of doctors will deal with patients who develop MPC Syndrome.
