Staying organised - swimming in samples

Does anyone else feel like there are so many formats, files, folders for each type of thing?

I have Battery kits, MPC PGMs, Kontakt instruments, sample packs, kit folders and so on.

When i want to use a battery kit in MPC i have to convert it which is fine but I'm trying to find a way to stay organised so i have easy access to all my samples in the different formats which ill need them in.

Has anyone found a good way of doing this or can you offer some advice on how to stay organised?

I have no experience in kits and stuff like that, i sample everything from vinyl but I can relate it to my soul record collection - theres a lot of stuff there! So what I did was sort them into different sections of grading - Top notch stuff, stuff tahts decent and stuff I wouldnt wnana listen to again. Same can be done with your kits, do you really need ALL those files or are some not even used? Clean it all up and make your own folders of what you're actually gonna use and try to make different umbrella-folders so in the first folder its just 5-6 categories and then those have X amount in them etc etc.

But staying organized is easier said than done, hopefully you can take something from this!
