Weird hard drive error

So recently my 1000 with OS2XL on it has started with funny stuff. It gave me a "0 bytes" situation, which seems common with removable drives in general. First it did this with the 1000 over USB in windows but then after unmounting it and trying to save something I got an "insufficient memory" error. Either way I backed everything up, reformatted, moved everything back. So I'm rolling again and I Tried to delete an old folder, make a new one by the same name and save the project in there - trying to break the overwrite/save option after reading about those errors all night. I got a system error while saving the project though on the freshly formatted drive and all my files in the viewer disappeared. Remounted and there's the files in Windows, unmounted and they're back in the load/save screen.

So what's even weirder than all of the above is that the MPC saves/loads anything except this one project it flips out. Like I can load/save at the speeds I'm used to with older projects, samples, whatever but this one project saves so damn slow, even in a fresh folder. I can save projects that are 100MB in less than five minutes but this one project takes more than 15. There are right around 500 samples but they might be 100kb a piece if that adding up to 30 Mb. And only this folder has given me any errors. So weird.

Surely there's something obvious I'm overlooking by I just want it to work. My MPC is crucial for everything. I hope this isn't karma getting back at me for finally fixing my 404. I just don't get it because it's been working fine for a solid year no problems. Any help and I'll quit losing whatever hair I've got left.

Well the 1000 seems to be working, saving, and loading correctly now - no weird hard drive errors. But I also haven't opened the project that kept making the hard drive act up. It really baffles me how one project can screw up so bad - it's just a ton of .WAV files, they're just files.

Maybe I'll try and get back in that one project throwing me for a loop. Would having an ampersand in the folder name cause problems? But everything is cool except for this one project. Any takers? Thank you in advance.

Have you formatted in MPC or PC? Anyway.. format in mpc on jjos, reset the OS. If for some reason computer asks "do you want to repair drive" when mounted for file transfer, say "no" and continue to transfer. If still does not work some files might be corrupted in a folder, then you would have to load 1 by 1 to check which file is bad.
