Sampling w cellphone

Hey,
I'm sampling from YouTube with a cord w 2 1/4 plug on a side and the other side goes into my phone where the headphone would go (sorry, I cnt know the proper terms yet) it works but the volume is low. What do I need to do? I just got an old mpc nd I'm new to this so ill be posting a lot of questions.

One more question , something I should know but,... Let's say i have a sample, what's the easiest way to slow it down and have it fit the bars som it loops perfectly?ins the only way just guess how many bar it will be , then if it a little over , change the bpm(the 120 thing inn the top left corner)? And when I chop it up, the sample winllians end real quick, can I make it sound more natural? I'm sorry if it's a newbie question .

How can I turn a sample backwards?

Sampling into your phone's input is probably going to give you poor quality anyway as the jack is a mono mic jack, not a line in. You can use a program called "audio hijack" (and probably a bunch of other freeware) to record from YouTube direct in your computer. Or just sample direct into your mpc. You can use audacity(also available free for your computer) or your mpc can reverse samples in the TRIM mode (EDIT>REVERSE).

As for slowing a sample down, you can slow it down with the tune function, or the time stretch function inside the mpc, and again, audacity has some options for this.

If you didn't get one when you bought the mpc, it's worth investing in a manual, as these are pretty simple functions that are explained in detail there. Don't let your creativity get stifled by a lack of reading!
