many problems on the mpc2500

Wazzup,

I have buyed a mpc 2500 from a guy and back home i clean it because it was verry dirty i screw everything open to clean it but before i did that i test every thing out and a lot of buttons haves a delay on it or sometimes it skipped

Now.. i gonna buy some new tact switches for it but inside de mpc i found more problems.. when i get a sample and trim that sample then i chopped that sample on automatic.. then it shows me on the display: wait.... i need to wait for a while i cant press any buttons there is some delay on it.... is this normal??? Or can i fix thiss? It took sometimes 5min sometimes 2mins and sometimes 10sec... and when the sample its chopped i can chop the sample by my self how i wil have it..but..when i do that it tooks me to much twisted on the twist button how can i do this faster is there a way? I dont like to set a number its hard..

Btw i want to fix all this bugs so hopefully there is someone that can help me.

The delay in autochop started when Akai introduced stereo chopping to the OS in the latest update. Before that it was very quick, bit chopping converted sounds to mono.

There is no fix if you wish to retain stereo chopping. If you don't care, you can downgrade to the previous OS version or I suggest you update to the free jjos which is much better

Ahh I buyed this mpc one day back and he use it in mac os and i have a windows pc what is the thing to get a windows update. I saw a folder with installs in it for mac os can i remove that? And where can i find windows updates? Like what u say de jjos? Im total new whit the mpc

Basically, you get a firmware upgrade from Akai or JJ, put it on the memory card then access it from the MPC. The file itself is universal, what you see about Mac is just how Macs create folders and you would likely have the same issue installing the same firmware from a PC.

JJOS is a custom MPC OS built by JJ, a really cool dude from Japan who learned how to speak to MPCs in their native language and designed a new OS to expand the feature set of the MPC. There are free and paid versions. His website is http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/mpc2500/

I would recommend some good contact cleaner for those switches, pots, sliders, and data wheel.

Deoxit is amazing, but bad for the environment, so we can't even get the stuff in Canada anymore.

You can get the right stuff at electronics parts store which sells resistors, caps, and pots. solder, etc..
(not a stereo / TV store)_

I gave gave two quick sprays on each button and knob etc. (pressing it 10x or turning the knob after the spays).

Everything works like brand new know! No more need to press anything multiple times. Dead buttons started

working, and everything only needs a very light touch. It's like a different machine now.
