Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

The ability to add audio tracks has existed for years. It could've been implemented before the Ren's release. The white flag is flying. I predict plugin improvements and little to nothing when it comes to the MPC software going in the direction of standalone. I'M OUT!! P.S. Roger Linn the total destruction is near... I hope I'm wrong smh.

Most of the pc based producers will never understand how I feel.

But, THE AKAI Professional that you loved is long gone (December 2005 to be exact, the month that Akai filed bankrupt in Japan)

Roger Linn stated that Since Numark took over the brand name, he hasn't received any loyalty checks from them (yet they are capitalizing MPC "legacy"), so I'd assume that Roger Linn couldn't care less.

Current AKAI brand is just an alias Numark uses, like ION, ALESIS, etc.

LOL

Floppy disk? 16MB of RAM?? No USB??? How can I make a track with that???
A lot of hits were made with those specs. How many placements do you have using more RAM and USB? :fku:

You need to calm the **** down nephew. I was being sarcastic. I "use" 3 ASR-10's, 3 MPC2000XL's, x7000 keyboard, TR-808, TR-909, 2 TR-707's and now 3 MV's so I know quite well something about using vintage gear with "limited" sampling capabilities.

Poe's law is an Internet adage which states that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, parodies of extreme views will, to some readers, be indistinguishable from sincere expressions of the parodied views.

Yeah, there's Youtube clips where Linn clearly curses Jack O Donnell to hell since he (JOD) was just being a total ass and made it hard for him (Linn) to even get in touch with them anymore. IMHO, a very, very bad move from Akai. Can you imagine where they could be now if they had kept Linn...

@fanu that doesn't take away from ableton though... that program is not only a dope daw for production but for live performances too like what this new mpc is aimed at doing.

Based on the type of music you do ableton is a better fit for you

Whether you like his music or not, I'm not sure if you know but you're dissing a veteran producer who's making his living off music unlike many other guys here...and he's made more music than probably anyone else on this forum.
Not dissing his music! He does quality work. Abelton is a great tool for the type of music he does. I had my first record deal in 1982 I guess I'm a newbie lol.

Yeah man. Love Ableton; it's my main DAW, and have been using it to play 1.5 hour live sets myself.

how is what he is doing out of touch? many companies are following that path that he has been working on for the last few years... look at companies like roli. those types of interfaces to digital instruments are forward thinking... even akai is trying to add another dimension to their products by putting touch screens on their stuff. And it's expensive because it isn't a mass produced product that will sell millions of units at hobbyist prices. We need guys like him and the eigenharp, the continuum, roli, etc.. to work on those types of ideas.... if they didn't exist we may not have ever had an mpc in the first place.

peeps romantacise linn; full credit for the ground work he laid but that don't mean he still has his finger on the pulse of what today's modern producers needs.

and honestly probably never did; not saying the mpc was a fluke but he was not designing that unit with hip hop in mind.

the dude strikes me as an inventor; engineer and scientist first an foremost; and the music comes after, nothing wrong with that as we need inventive minds.

however lets not pretend that that dude is engaged enuff in today's technology to actually be relevant today.

fore one he seems totally oblivious to the presences of the personal computer in his recent outings; so what makes u think that he would enable the design of a computer integrated stand-alone unit?

I would never question linns inventiveness or the impact of his legacy but in todays world the practicality of his offerings appears to be lacking, now that was ok during the 80's as all music gear was industrial spec and high end but in todays pro-sumer market he aint da one.

You're full of pointless contradictions jpeg. Who are you to determine who is relevant or not in the industry? You're as ****' clueless as you were before you disappeared from here and crawled under a rock a few years back.

The last person to proclaim Roger Linn as "irrelevant" was that bellend jah. :Sigh:

apparently they were in touch as the mpc studio and the ren sold heavy units;

also lotta peeps copped the mpc1k, the 2500 and the 4K and 5k.

so on what basis are u saying numark were never in touch? they had issues but peeps was buying their work with a lil help from jjos

everyone has an opinion and this is forum to air it; based on logic and observation its possible for person to form an opinion on relevancy and current market trends.

dont make groundless accusations, state specifically where there are contradictions in my statement?

simply because u dislike my conclusions that does not make my assertions clueless; it just means u are unwilling to look at the evidence from which my conclusions were reached.

only because my viewpoint shakes ur paradigm of what u see as high value (ie. all things roger linn)
u are reacting in an emotional manner as shown by the name calling.

control urself; and refute what I have said with logic, or do not respond.
