Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi everybody here, I recently bought a MPC 2000XL refurbished, I have been loving the machine to pieces and how its finally made everything fit together for me..now the problem:

the first day was fine, then after a while I noticed there would be a random jitter of noise that sounds almost like somebody drilling concrete in the distance, I noticed after the machine warmed up a while this would go away, but it literally happens very randomly out of the blue for no reason!

And now today im having an even bigger noise come randomly out of my left speaker.. I noticed when I unplugged my SP-404 going in to the MPC stereo in the back for sampling from, the sound disappeared, but then when it came back with my SP404 jacks unplugged from the MPC, I gave the mpc a little tap around this area and the sound stopped, any clue what the HELL this is ;'0!?! As I am in love with this machine and this hurts my little soul...

Thanks!
Dom

what he said!

you can also use a cotton bud and some suitable cleaner (look for isopropyl alcohol on Rapid/Farnell/RS - warning! nasty stuff!)

My 2000 classic had some gunk on the main board on what I think was a RAM chip or a controller of some sort which was flipping bits in the memory giving some 'orrible crackle - it might be worth checking for contamination on the board, or shreds of metal that have come off the screw threads if its been taken apart.
