it looks like it certainly would be easier to make music with one of these.

i couldn't do it myself though. i actually like zip disks and midi cables.

I think they made huge improvements from Version 1 to the new one... I'm also curious how the new pads will feel.

Of course i will keep my mpc2500, but it could be that there will be dust on the cover of that one...

Tempting it is, but programming synths on an actual synth is more fun regardless if it's digital or analog. Also working in a hardware sampler environment with limitations brings a lot of new ideas for me.

This weekend I'm finally going to hook up my E-RM sync box to see if i can make my MPC60 work with live "jitter-free."

If my Reason liscence wasn't NFR (Not For Resale), I'd sell it and buy Ableton. I might just sell some hardware instead.

Just ordered mine from Ableton directly. It's shipping from Austin, TX to California. Can't wait. That display looks hot.

I wonder what else will be announced before winter namm???

i'm glad i never buy software or software dependent things.

the best tools for the job these days are probably computer based solutions like push, mpc touch, maschine etc.
but that feeling that my money is going to turn into a paperweight just keeps me stuck on real hardware.

i suppose you never really own commercial software, you just rent it. you get to keep the paperweight though.

Probably an educational license, review/press license or similar. The standard Reason license can be transferred to a different person.

i totally agree, but you've got to envy the fact that they can just click "Save Live set" instead of saving to floppies, parking hard disks, writing down knob positions, etc etc. it takes me about 10 min to save everything, so most of the time i just turn everything off and start again the next day. hence my current lack of uploaded beats.

i'm in too deep to sell it all and move into the box though.

I'm an old friend of James Bernard. He had Propellerhead send me a copy of Reason 6 when it was released. So it's not any loss being that the license isn't transferrable. I bought the Reason 7 upgrade and a few Rack Extensions since then. So I haven't invested much compared to some of the die-hard Reason users who have spent thousands of dollars on upgrades and Rack Extensions. The thing about Rack Extensions is that they're not transferrable at all. So I'm glad I only spent around $200 or so. With VSTs, you still have the opportunity to resell them.

I've just picked up oneof these and I've had a far better experience with it than I have had on the renaissance and the machine studio.
One thing I always found difficult with live was the chopping and this directly fixes all the flaws in the slice to midi work flow.
One other thing that is not directly a push 2 feature but is an ableton 9.5 feature is that you can now have samples in simper and drum rack that are warped.
This really is a game changer for ableton.
