I use minute long (or longer) recordings of crickets and nature sounds in all of my beats. This appeals to the sweet beauty of nature that all men have deep inside their essence.

So, I would love audio tracks too!

As many styles as people do with MPCs today, one is, of course, hip hop, and if someone sends you a vocal track that's 3 minutes long, the need for an audio track is evident. This happened to me recently and there's no way you can do that with the Ren.
Also, for example, I've always loved to use samples of rain in my music, often way over 1 minutes long, and that's annoying to do with the way it is now.

just sample the vocal track into the ren. I also produce hip hop. so if someone were to send me a vocal track that is 3 minutes, I would sample it into the ren

It will take a long time for the MPC software to catch up to legacy DAW's.

Asking for a new feature that won't be able to do something else down the line makes no sense.

If were going to ask for a new feature why not one of innovation?

Make the sync tight and they play well together. Make it solid, fix the bugs. The desktop extender should also be touch controllable.

In the old days, people would fly in entire vocals on a sampler. What are you guys doing?
By sparq Fri Nov 06, 2015 4:19 pm
add the ability to natively rewire. all legacy mpc's were able to do this. in fact, it would be software to software which is what rewire was created to do.

+100... the thing now is as technology and music merge closer together, most get too lazy and don't want to put in the extra work. People want everything in one box to do EVERYTHING. look at all of the limitations mpc's had back in the days. they made work, what they had and made classic music.

Sure, peeps were working with vox back in the day with their MPC 2000, but that's some work.
Let's say you have a 32-bar sequence and you're tweaking the last 2 bars to do a fill and you want to hear the vox in context. Well, in that case you have to either do manual work and chopping so that the vocal chop starts at the beginning of / within the last 2 bars OR loop the whole 32 bars and listen to it all over again every time...OR you could have an audio track that plays wherever you start at.

Sure, people did amazing things with old tech, but that doesn't mean we should be content with tech that's not good enough (if you are, that's super fine, and i'm not telling anyone to be unhappy with the stuff they're happy with) – but trust me, the people working with the old limited gear would've killed for the features we have today.

I can't speak for you guys, but I make music and/or do audio work pretty much every day of the year, and it's then that you appreciate the things that make your workflow faster.

The vocals wont play at the moment you press play when you do it as a sample. You would have to play the entire sequence over so the vocal sample you flew in would trigger. With an audio track the vocals would play at any point in the playhead. You can scrub ahead or reverse and the audio track will play.

I really didn't understand the importance of it until I started using the audio tracks on the JJOS 128xl

I agree with this 100%

The point is not to do unnecessary extra work. It's to do extra work, if necessary. This is music and musicians work off of vibe and to maintain that focus of the vibe u can't afford to have it interrupted by extra work when there's actually a more straight forward solution

Yep, and that in essence is how an actaul instrument works.

The best music was done on machines that were limited....This pushed boundaries of musicians workarounds and made their finished track unique......Most on this forum no matter what's added will still want more until it's at the stage of press one button, crack open a beer and it finishes the beat for you.

2.1 is going to feature a wipe your ass up option!

I'd love those features TBH.

Most of the requests users are still asking for aren't exactly new tech at all. I don't know the first bit about coding, but I'd guess they're not _that_ hard to do, and seeing that we have the technology, one can only ask, "Why not?" if it enhances your workflow. And, after all, that's the task of contemporary modern devices.

The problem with artistry is the critics problem with artists is that they are all critics too.

Some prefer to work in confined and limited options because that is how they came up. Then you have some who seem to do so to fit into this box of "keeping it real" because the artists they admire worked similarly. I do not think that artists should feel like they're "cheating" because they utilize the new technology to get our ideas out far quicker and efficient than the yesteryear.

If your making music that sounds good, I don't care how you got there.
