I hope not. I really like the thought put into the quick access options but this seems like a $399 product at best.

the only thing i like about this is the idea that maybe someone could create some other custom software to utilize the hardware for some other application other than this software. like... maybe a software for video editing or mixing and the pads could be used for triggering clips while the screen could be for previewing a second clip but the main video output of the computer or laptop could be the main output for a projector in a show...

i dont know... it's just that even with some 3rd party hack, it would be too expensive to justify it. You are better off getting a surface 3 at this rate i think.

er will this come with akai pen like the ipad pro so i can draw my automation or is this just the beginning

I just hope this doesn't stop them from fixing all the problems and making improvements to the Ren software because they spending all this energy on this Nintendo DS

Than we all sell our Ren/studio's and go the push 2 route lol

The touch doesnt even have S/PDIF????? Is this thing a joke??? I use s/pdif to record my samples on my ren and 1000 from my RME ucx. Its just something i prefer and its in my workflow and i know everyone doesnt use it but it should be standard! especially if this thing is $799. I agree with a earlier poster this should be $399 or $499 at the most. Im sure i mentioned before that i would rather buy the push 2 than the touch and i almost did last thursday. I held back because i wanted the ableton software to work like the MPC so bad and i was getting frustrated. Im know the push 2 would have added a faster workflow but i didnt want to switch and regret it later. Im keeping my eyes on ableton tho as they have some innovation in the products and will continue using the ren/studio. Akai is last place in the race if you ask me and alot of you can agree as well. I just really hope that the touch screen route is not the way they are going with all there future MPC's and throw us ren/studio users under the bus. Im glad i kept my 1000! this vid seemed like he spent half the vid just demoing the sound pack due to lack of features and innovation in the actual system

I AGREE 1000% At the 20:23min mark his hands look nervous especially when everything he programs is so off beat because there is NOTHING else to show with this unit. This unit is not innovative, its not worth $799 and its geared towards dance and trap producers. Im giving akai till 2.0 and if they fail again than IM DONE.

Some people see this as a "game changer!!!!!". LOL - sarcasm. Personally I don't see anything innovative, but that's just me. Some people will think it's cool though.

But I honestly think part of this is due to the challenges that they always have with their promo videos. IMO they're always awful.

I don't know why they're submitting the control of their promo to GAK, who are a UK retailer. You'd think they'd want to carefully edit any material that gets put out pre-release, so they could trim all the extraneous crap out that this vid is full of. The dodgy screen reflections, the hand constantly covering the dusty screen, the table rocking, the pointless freestyling with EDM sounds... Andy Mac.

I don't like the huge Akai logo above the screen either.

I don't mind the nerdy or lack of musical talent in the videos either. The biggest problem though in this video is the lack of "why do I need/want it". In a 30 minute video, no mentions of any new features outside of independent track length and XY pad. I don't even remember if Pete and Geoff showed the actual MPC software in their video either. That seems a little deliberate, but hey I may be way off base.

I hope it's possible the next time Akai's release a hype trailer the product drops no more than 30 days after the release. Native has that down, and Ableton is way ahead of everyone in that regard.

Yes, it does appear somewhat glossy. But that could be from the extra light during filming, which reduced the backlight.

By appears the Push 2 screen seems clear with a matte finish, it's now only a few day away, for the arrival.

Have to say...that demo actually put me off investing into the Touch.
Primarily I want it for travel/portability, particularly when playing live but I'll also need an additional soundcard as one stereo output just won't cut it plus the lag on the screen seems dreadful.

The quick workflow, which is the strength of the MPC range, is still there. In fact it's even quicker on the Touch. You can get a million ideas constructed very, very quickly and nothing will ever surpass that, not anytime soon anyways. But, do I really need this? Can I live with such a laggy screen? Is the reduced soundcard options a plus or minus now that an additional soundcard is absolutely needed? Is it worth 700 euros? Hmmmnnnn....

There's never a question of selling the Ren for this as teh Ren's soundcard and qlinks put it on another level altogether, it was mainly for gigs, but somehow that video made me think "No. Not worth it"

Maybe I'll reconsider as more videos appear and initial buyers start leaving feedback.

I agree, that video is probably doing more harm than good, for us lot at least.

And I'm not sure the policy of drip feeding info and holding back on the release for so long is working, perhaps it wasn't planned this way, but people are just getting bored now, Push 2 seems to have stolen all the glory with some cracking marketing and just making the thing available straight away.

I'm sure things will pick up once it starts shipping and user videos start appearing, but TBH I'm not feeling the £499 price tag, does seem overpriced. £399 early next year I reckon.

All Andy's videos do more harm than good IMHO!
299 quids would be more the price range for this unit I think!

The marketing team with Ableton need to take a bow. Wow! They totally nailed it. Get it out there, organize a presentation on the behind the scenes of the company ethos and development, professional videos, immediate release.

They really, really nailed it. I don't have one Ableton product but I would consider investing in their products after this.
