The marketing team with Ableton need to take a bow. Wow! They totally nailed it. Get it out there, organize a presentation on the behind the scenes of the company ethos and development, professional videos, immediate release.
Boom!

They really, really nailed it. I don't have one Ableton product but I would consider investing in their products after this.

I have to Agree!!!
Pretty much the moment of the announcement of new product, and on the shelf ready for the customer to purchase the same day!!!!!!! Plus, all the videos to further the customers decision, and a Trade in plan for existing customers if they want to upgrade. Ableton have set up a hell of a strategy, and it seems to be working. Im still waiting on more info on AKAI and its slow motion. Push 2 and Live 9.5 update really delivered!

Ableton definitely showed other companies how it's done, no doubt steering a few peeps waiting on MPC Touch their way to pick up Push 2 (as this board has proved).

unfortunately it seems that Akai think by announcing; and delaying release and drip feeding videos that they are building the hype and anticipation.

but its actually reverse and certainly push 2 has stolen alot of akai's thunder; and the initial excitement of the release has worn off, so akai have missed out on the potential impulse buys that may have occurred when the unit was first announced.

Also regarding the waveform editing screen lag when scrolling and pinch zoom; someone on gearslutz mentioned the following:

They included the Q-Links for a reason. Those still offer better accuracy than the touch display will for doing those types of things. Pinch and zoom to get close to where you want it, then use the Q-Link knob to fine tune the level of zoom you want if necessary

so from this perspective perhaps mpc studio users can just view the touch as an upgraded studio with audio i/o and a much bigger screen?

hopefully the data wheel and qlinks will still allow people to navigate the interface and not be reliant on doing all functions from the screen; as if it is possible to select items using the data wheel than the responsiveness becomes a less of an issue.

also those who dont like the idea of music production on the touch screen can simply view this as an mpc with a big colour screen, and just use the touch interface for certain aspects such as the xy effects

Now that i think about it, could the drip feeding hype be why ableton split from AKAI for Push 2??

Akai may have been moving to slow in delivering. If i recall when Push1 was announced, it took some time for them to deliver the actual physical product to the consumer after the initial announcement. The same with the Akai Advance series, it took some time to deliver the product. Now that this is a 100% ableton control, there is a different strategy on how to treat the consumer, and not leave them hanging on for extended period of time...

A cursor would help as well but there is none for the sake of the touch screen. Lets just hope the touch screen is accurate and responsive and gives a reason not to have a cursor. The dreadful lag with the faders in the other video still haunt me every night

Honestly! Akai got a big slap to the face with the push 2. Ableton had a presentation, quality videos, announcment and release the same day, trade-in program and software upgrade and made there own BETTER controller without Akai. Its been over a month since touch got revealed and all we get is a shitty design, laggy screen, horrible promo videos and no release date for touch or 1.9 and they lost all the touch interest with a proper announcment/release by ableton hahaha! Roger linn and ableton are laughing so hard right now. Im sure Akai is squezing in some new features because of the push 2 which will cause a longer delay. Is the product even finished lol!!!???? Anyways, which side are you on??

Wait you need an additional sound card to use this thing? I didn't watch the whole video. If so, that's insane. Especially considering it has to be plugged into power to utilize the touch screen. The more we learn about this thing, the worse it gets for Akai.

Anyway, this is not replacing the flagship MPC Ren. This is comparable to the MPC Studio with a touch screen. I will wait on the updated Ren version while I pick-up the Push 2. Glad I saw this video.

Yeah really! what the hell is going on at 20:23 LOL????? Im really not interested in this unit! could work for other people but mos def not for me. I will stick to my MPC 1000, MPC Ren/Studio. I was so close to buying a push 2 the other day but i held off. As both are $799, the push 2 would be the better choice if you already have the ableton software. The way the touch is being marketed and those new kits it comes with really is a thumbs down. Its not too far off from the beat thang LOL. Can we get 1.9 and the other "2" rumored units please???

Other "2" rumored units?

One of them was probably the exclusive MPK Mini Mk2 Limited Edition:

What if this is their new flagship?
What if this is what Akai considers the "best" they have?

I hope not. I really like the thought put into the quick access options but this seems like a $399 product at best.

Give it about a year.....

Folks are already dumping their Rens on Ebay for $400-$500. I can only imagine what those shysters at Guitar Center are ripping them off for.

I realize that someone in the world would like this, but I just hate to see companies spending their time and energy on stuff like this...
