Akai S3000i replacement Floppy Drive.

My floppy drive has finally died in my trusty S3000i
I've had it from 2000 so I can't really complain
But I've been saving up for a effects unit so... I really don't want to pay a lot for a new floppy drive and theoretically backstep.

Cash is very tight and close to non existent for me at the moment.
I've messed about with other floppy drives before
The one I changed for usb emulater in my Mpc2000 do'snt work in the S3000
And I had one some one gave me out a computer did't work niether
It's about the blocks int it?

I'll figure it out, but if any of you heads can give me any advise I'd aprieciate it cus ...it stops me "producing" or even bothering to turn it on if my S3000 won't load all my pianios, pads and synthes.

Why?! Why?! Floppy drive!

gotek floppy emulators are cheap as chips, (<30€ on ebay) and if it dosen't work with the standard firmware, you can flash it with the HXC firmware, which cost like 10€ and works with just about everything.

as for your samples on floppies you could either copy them to the usb stick from a pc with a real floppy drive using the old akaidisk dos program.

OR

if you really want a floppy drive then its a case of finding an older floppy drive that has the apropriate jumpers and setting them in the right magic combination.
