I only hear the drums assigned to the pads from my zip disc but nothing when I hit shift sample
just the headphone out... what is the rec ? im pretty sure I hve it connected right unless im a high or something......the smll black cable in my pc and the red one in my mpc phone out with the gray one hanging
REC is the recording level, if this is at 0 you will not hear the audio coming from the sample source. (If I'm correct... I'm not at my MPC to check though).
You may need to check the channel/track settings coming out of your DAW (if that's how your sampling).
