tuner or something similar, so that when you record a sample, it identifies the root note.

then this one
in record mode the input is set to external to record the mic, then you press play to start the beat, and when you start spitting/singing it synchronizes the recorded sample exactly where you started so that you don't have to do it manually afterwards. this could be a workaround until the audio tracks come. it should ask you if you want it synced or not when you're saving the sample

The looper in the Touch does exactly this. People should ask for longer measures, it is max at 16 bars.

I'm guessing they mean being able to adjust the quantize params after a sequence has been recorded and hear the difference without having to press do it / undo

I think.....

Yeah, it's self-explanatory really.

I thought Akai would expand on the 4K's realtime quantize 'audition' as it's low hanging fruit for a midi sequencer, but I suspect they'll usher in audio tracks and turn the MPC software into a regular DAW that's shite in comparison to Cubase, Pro Tools et al.

That's not even remotely comparable to what I'm talking about. :Sigh:

There's a certain amount of guesswork involved when using quantize because it's an offline process (if you record without it), which is why a lot of people stick at 16th note 63% swing, or whatever because they know it works. What that misses is all the various in-between settings that would work better, because nobody can be arsed to hit 'do it' and 'undo' multiple times to get it right.

To make the process more interactive and creative it should be fully realtime and work on a per track level. IMO anyway. :smoker:

drag and drop midi to timeline and to individual tracks or at least be able to import midi files to individual tracks.

i know about the looper and i agree about the longer measures. it should at least offer the possibility to match the length of the sequence so that i can record verses plus choruses all as one sample for demo tracks. the problem with the looper as it is now is that in many cases the verse starts before the bar begins (e.g. 8.4.720 or 8.4.840 instead the beginning of the bar 9) and then you have to mute the track before it punches in. this would be a nice workaround but if you are overdubbing in the looper it records the tail of the effect such as reverb from the end of the loop at the beginning of the next one. this can mess things up if you are using more than one chord. if first bar is played in d minor and the second goes from g major to a minor, then you would get an a minor reverb over the beginning or at least the half of d minor chord. even if it seems to sound good i am not really sure if you can play the f note in the a minor chord because it is one semitone higher than e which is the 8th (highest) semitone in that chord.now i am aware that there are some exceptions and some more complicated chords (that's beyond my level of knowledge at the moment) but regardless your first chord would be altered and would not sound the same, thus it would not be d minor but something that i can't name or define yet
