COPPED A USED MPC REN. on EBAY

What up fellow MPC peeps! Been a hardware mpc user for over a decade and been lurkin and learning on the forums for as long.
After watching a bunch of youtube vids I decided to cop a Renaissance. Got one one Ebay for $424. I thought it was a steal but now I am worried about not being able to register/activate the software if the previous user never bothered to deactivate it ( i bought it from a pawn shop and from what I am reading , best case scenario, i am allowed to be the last owner of this unit. I plan to keep it but the resale value is pretty much non-existent without the software if I do decide to resell it .

Plus AKAI is notorious for abandoning products and just moving on to the next product which means this software may not be compatible with the computer OS in a couple of years as opposed to stand alone hardware which can be used forever

All this makes a strong argument for sticking to hardware.

With that said , I'm hyped to try the Renaissance as it looks like the real deal mpc in terms of workflow and layout

As far as I know you can write to customer support and have your software activation reset to the usual four activations. Should be enough to tell them you bought a used unit.

That's exactly all you have to do. It's not a problem at all.

I emailed customer support before I sold my Ren. A few days later they cleared the account so that the new owner could register in his name.

Enjoy your new Ren. I don't think Akai will be abandoning users like they did in the past. IMHO, the Ren and the new Touch are my favorites to date..with honorable mention to my old 3000.
