copying note data from one pad to another on mpc 3000?

hey all! just wondering if it's possible to say, program in a closed hi hat pattern, on one hat, but then take that note data, that's recorded to that pad, and then copy it to another pad - in this instance, to an open hi hat pattern later in the track - the point being to retain the rhythmical pattern, but change the sound instead?

having read the manual, I can see it's possible to copy from the note data from one track to another, but not pads, or maybe I'm missing something how to achieve this?

obviously I could just punch it in, but it would be time saving to be able to do it this way when coming to laying out the song / making small changes etc.

Not exactly sure if this your question, but first, make sure you are on the track that you want to edit the notes and hit SEQ Edit key > Option 9 (Edit note Data) > Option 2 (Edit note number assignment). Once in that screen, notice the "Change notes" field at the bottom and put the cursor there . Hit the pad of the notes you want to change (closed hi hat). Then put the cursor to the "to notes" field below, next hit the corresponding pad of the note you want to change to (open hi hat). Then hit Do it.

It's not switching the sound of the pads, you just switching the recorded data to the data that trigger the sound of the corresponding pad you want.
