Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

This is a very familiar topic, but i'm checking in to see if anyone has any new solutions. Talking about distortion and feedback. I encountered the issue like crazy back when i got my Ren in 2013. Was able to keep it at bay for the most part with buffer/sample rate settings. Now i have a new macbook pro running al capitan and the distortion and crackle is back with a vengence. And no buffer settings/sample rate adjustments will stop it for more than 5 seconds....so it's probably a shot in the dark, but have there been any advancements in prevention lately in this category? It's retarded.

Weird, it seems like Apple is turning into Microsoft and Microsoft is turning into Apple.

80 dollars for the adaptor? Chalk it up, just get it.

Ive been thinking about getting a Windows laptop, I could also run Aksys for the MPC4000.

NEW MAC OWNERS
Just use a separate external USB interface. Assign the input and output of the software to your separate external interface.
The Ren will only be a controller. New Mac Owners are screwed. Bite the bullet and stop using the Ren interface. The existing Mac Driver doesn't work. This is for NEW Mac owners.

So you're saying even this Kannex USB to Thunderbolt adaptor won't work to solve the problem? I'd rather spend $80 on a cable than invest in a new interface.

A ton of shit doesn't actually work on my new macbook pro i'm now discovering. it's crazy. i've always been an apple user, but damn they're falling off HARD. many vsts don't work properly (updated and everything), iTunes 12.3 is a joke of a buggy/annoying mess for countless reasons, and wow trying to use apple music is so non-functional i'm having flashbacks of blowing into nintendo games. the shit straight up just doesn't work 95% of the time. sorry to divert my own thread, but i wanted to share how baffled i am by how bad all this shit is. i'm really really surprised.

Honestly Medina, I cannot find any thread or comment of the proposed $80 Kannex to be working on the Akai site, Gearslutz or YouTube. I have an interface and made it work. It sucks you don't have one because I have zero issues, no pops cracks, latency or driver issues anymore.

So I tried this Kannex thing and of course it didn't help. Gonna return it.

Does anyone have a suggestion for an audio interface that I should try? Quality and dependability are my first priorities. Easy on the pocket book would be definite bonus though. I NEED to stop this distortion crap from happening ASAP without compromising my audio signal.

Thanks!

I just upgraded the OS on a 2008 MacBook Pro to El Capitan. I'm not getting any distortion. I have read certain models have a problem with the USB.

I'm still running 1.6 because I love it. Gonna try to update to the latest software/driver and see what happens with this issue. Backing everything up now then taking the plunge.

Get off El capitan, it's not ready.

I'm using Ren and its interface on Yosemite no problems

An update for those who care: Tried upgrading from my beloved 1.6 to 1.9.4 to see if I was still going to have this issue with crackling/distortion. Oh my lord 1.9 was a freaking joke of a glitchy, popping, crackling, dysfunctional mess in countless ways from the moment I opened it. Wow. Speechless. So anyways I went back to 1.6 and I continue to have these audio problems when trying to sample in. I guess the Ren just can't hang with the newer Macbook Pros. What a joke.
