i have a new favorite sampler. ever since i stopped using jjos128xl i have been generally disappointed with how fiddly most VSTi samplers are. so much mousing and tiny controls (looking at you, Kontakt) and nobody really did the "split into equal zones" thing as well as i wanted.

finally, Darkstar (well known vsti tester/developer/documentor/commentator) introduced me to Bliss by DiscoDSP. it's a terrific sampler with a great layout and nice features, but what i like most is its slicing capabilities.

i'm doing a lot of MLR monome style sequencing these days, beat juggling on the launchpad, where the sample steps through each equal sized slice until it re-loops at the beginning. Bliss will slice your sample and then lets you quickly apply a crossfade loop to each slice, so that you can do stuff like i used to do on the MPC (realtime pitch-shifting via varispeed "tape" tuning)

there are also sweet "macro" controls, 8 of them, and you can attach multiple params to each, with control over min/max ranges. so, of course, a nice filter cutoff/resonance control, and control over loop start/end points...

this product is terrific, and it's on sale now while it's still in beta (release appears to be right around the corner, so scoop it up now if you like it). dev seems receptive and open to suggestions.

hope you like it
