Moving to Europe with Mpc Ren and 500

What up mpc folk!

So yea, I'm moving to Europe and trying to figure out if I will be able to plug my mpcs into the grid with just an adapter or if I need to buy a step down transformer or what not. Does anyone know?

In their typical Akai style, they have not returned any of my inquiries about this.

I know mocstuff sells euro plugs but they are like $40 so for two plus shipping I'm looking at like $100 .

Does anyone have any input

well the manual for the gear will have this info in it... and it might even be written on the back of the units (regarding the voltage)


as for the 500... when you get to europe, buy an adapter that is for the local voltage that will output the required power for the mpc... try to make sure the voltage is the same amount needed.. and the same amperage (mA) or higher... but not lower.

or do I need to buy the Euro power supplies like the ones MPCstuff sells for $37

no that looks like it just changes the shape of the prongs... you need a step down converter (220 to 120 volt)

Check the power supply units that you already have. They should be marked with their Primary voltage.
If they say 115v or similar then you will have to look elsewhere.
However, many modern supplys are switched mode meaning they will run on a range of voltages.
In this case they will be marked something similar to 85 - 250 volts and will be suitable for use with just a plug adapter as you showed.
I can't tell because I don't have the equipment and the manuals don't seem to mention the power supplies so you will have to have a look your self. Feel free to photograph the legend and post it here for advice if you are unsure.

Should be the same with most modern gear. The only thing I needed transformers for was my vintage (pre-95) stuff and my Lynx Aurora. Oh, and my Roland SH-32... I just bought a new PSU for that since they're pretty cheap on Amazon. So the 500 might need a new PSU as well, since they usually sell cheap single-voltage PSUs with these things.
