Why hasn't Akai made an MPC with a built in cross-fader?
On the REN, I'd rather have a cross fader, where the 16 Q link knobs are...or 8 Qlink knobs and a cross fader.
Maybe Akai's rationale is that most beat maker's and producers already have a mixer, etc on hand and can somehow route it in, but why not have it already built in?
How nice would it be to fade back and forth between tracks, sample record / input, etc? Then Resample the fading! Then add effects and delay - it would really open up a lot of creative possibility...and CREATE NEW SOUNDS!
Years ago, I was crazy enough to buy (and still have) an Open Labs DBeat, and that cross fader made a massive difference. Then the APC40 Live controller had one (but that's just an ableton controller).
Or Can the Akai ProAMX somehow work with the MPC Ren, etc? I dont think so...
OR....why not create an add on hardware product similar to the ProAMX, which works with the REN, and other MPC's, and is like a supplemental tool, which you can buy separately, etc?
Furthermore, Rather than Akai build all new MPC units every few years, (and having users chase the carrot and buy the latest - i.e, setting REN aside for the Touch)...just release new add-on hardware, like a cross fader, etc, which plugs in and works with the main workstation? This way users, 1 - dont have a collection of MPC's, and 2 - ensure their existing MPC and gear is not Outdated and obsolete.
